Johnson to trigger vote for election after Commons defeat

An embarrassing defeat for the government could consequently see the UK pushed into a general election.

MPs vote by 328 to 301 to take control of the Commons agenda tomorrow, paving the way for a bill designed to block Boris Johnson from taking the UK out of the EU without a deal

After MPs back a bid to take over the Commons agenda in order to pass legislation blocking a no-deal Brexit Boris Johnson says “I don’t want an election but if MPs vote tomorrow to stop negotiations… then that would be the only way to resolve this”
